About Ross McCulloch
I currently live in a small village in Wiltshire and practice from home in Colerne nr Bath. I also conduct online consultations via skype.
I use a range of techniques to address imbalances related to all three sides of the triad of wellbeing (structure, biochemistry and emotions). The way they are interconnected means that two, or sometimes all three of these elements require treatment in order for an individual to return to a complete state of wellness. My door is open to all, from those who have a straightforward health concern, to those who have longer and more complex healing journeys to travel. I specialise in uncovering and addressing the root cause of ill health. Even if you have visited other complimentary therapists or mainstream physicians and perhaps had some degree of improvement please do contact me to discuss your situation, I am more than happy to share my insights and let you know how I can help you. |
My Journey
My journey as a healer began when a leaflet on Chiropractic caught my eye in the careers department at school in Edinburgh - it was a profound and insightful moment for me and from then on my life path changed significantly.
I studied for four years at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. During my third year I began studying Applied Kinesiology and have continued to independently study this subject throughout my career. It was also around this time that I discovered that I was a hands on healer - when I was treating patients my hands would become warm and I could feel my crown chakra opening.
I completed my Doctor Of Chiropractic degree in 1981 and went to work in a group practice in Somerset alongside other Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Homeopaths and Accupuncturists. There was a great deal of inter-professional sharing - we regularly held group meetings to discuss difficult cases and this was a rich learning environment for me that further piqued my interest in subjects such as the Chinese acupuncture system and homeopathy which I had already begun to study in the context of Applied Kinesiology. During this period I also conducted further research into spiritual healing and I talked to many lay healers, sharing knowledge with them.
In 1985, after four years in Somerset, I moved back to Edinburgh and opened my own practice there. At this time alternative/complimentary medicine was taking off in a big way and the clinic was extremely busy. My primary focus was the treatment of ADHD and learning disabilities as well as a more general practice for people who wanted avoid/minimise the use of drugs or surgery in the treatment of their health concerns.
I practiced in Edinburgh for fifteen years (with satellite practices in Fife and The Outer Hebrides). I was hugely passionate about alternative medicine and lectured to a wide range of groups about holistic healthcare - from GP's and surgeons, to mother and baby groups to allergy sufferers. I also spent a great deal of time researching and further educating myself about Applied Kinesiology, Neurology and Bio-Chemistry and continued to learn more from lay healers about hands on healing and used this technique in practice with patients.
In 1998 I took a sabbatical - I sold the practice in Edinburgh and went with my young family to California to try to get a license to practice there. I did post graduate work in Chiropractic Paediatrics and Applied Kinesiology and also taught Applied Kinesiology at Palmer West Chiropractic College. This whole period was an amazing journey of self-discovery for me and a much needed break from an enjoyable but very busy practice. However, after a year, although I was then eligible for a license to practice in many states, a loophole in Californian law meant that they were unable to grant me a license to practice there and I felt that it was time to return to the UK.
We moved to Tunbridge Wells, in Kent and I started a new practice there. This was an exciting time as it grew very quickly. My primary focus was treating children and I also began working more with patients on their emotional journey, requiring longer sessions. I started to see more people with rare or unusual conditions which often required considerable additional research. This was also a time where the psychological side of my healing work came very easily to me and I begun to study this area in greater depth. I did a brief course in Transactional Analysis (TA) and then followed this up with further independent study of TA and also Jungian Analysis.
I went into TA therapy myself for ten months and found this to be deeply revealing. This healing at the very corner stone of the personality - the nitty gritty that its not always easy to look at - had a most profound affect on me, liberating me from my past and allowing me to live more in the present. Having been through this type of therapy and found it as valuable as I did I wanted to pass it on to clients. I started to work more with long term clients who I now guide through this emotional/psychological healing journey.
